Summary of the final episode
The Major, the eternal nemesis of the British Royal Protestant Knights organization “Hellsing,” confronts the protagonist Alucard. Alucard confronts the Major’s army and wages a fierce battle for his existence. Alucard realizes the Major’s madness for “war” and the truth of the “eternal life” he desires. He then musters his last strength to defeat the Major. Alucard then falls into a long slumber, reappearing before Integra 30 years later. He tells her that through his battle with the Major, he has become a true monster, but Integra accepts him regardless. The story concludes by suggesting that the bond between Alucard and Integra and their endless battle will continue.
Review of the final episode
The scale of the final chapter and the conclusion of the fated battle between Alucard and the Major were overwhelming. In particular, Alucard’s understanding and defeat of the Major’s madness felt not just like a fight scene, but one with philosophical depth. The reunion scene 30 years later made my heart warm, as it felt like Alucard’s lonely battle had been rewarded. Ultimately, the story didn’t have a clear ending but instead hinted that their battle would continue, leaving a lingering impression that felt true to the work.
